Roll in the mud with the iPig Speaker System for iPod

Jake Bechtold | August 14, 2008

If you are “Oinking” for a designer speaker system for your iPod, look no further than the iPig.

The system includes a unique speaker system that packs five total drivers (including a 4-inch subwoofer), adjustable bass controls, 360-degree sound distribution and a very debatable design. No iPod, no problem- there’s a 3.5mm Aux-In in the back. Oh, and there’s also a bundled remote.

Think this is the gadget for you? Don’t roll in the mud yet. The iPig oinks a $139.99 price tag- a little steep for what you get. No word on when it will be available.

Jake Bechtold | April 16, 2008

You know how much I love iHome stuff. Yesterday, they released the iHome iP99.

Meet the new iP99, the world’s first clock radio for the iPhone! Designed and engineered to shield and avoid annoying iPhone/mobile phone TDMA noise so no airplane mode is required which means that you’ll never miss a call again when your iPhone is docked. The iP99 is packed with lots of innovative features, including alarm settings to complement your lifestyle so you can wake to your own custom iPhone playlist at different times on different days, a remote that controls the unit and iPod menu functions, AM/FM radio with presets, programmable snooze settings, and 3D sound for an enhanced audio experience. With our Reson8 speaker chambers, you’ll be able to enjoy great stereo sound around the clock.

That’s right- all the usual iHome goodies, but with iPhone compatibility. While I don’t have an iPhone, I am thinking about a new iHome (mine’s going on 3 year old) and this might be the one- we’ll. The iP99 doesn’t ship until June, but you can pre-order now. The iP99 will set you back about $150.

Microsoft Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse 3000

Jake Bechtold | April 9, 2008

As you know, I am not a fan of Microsoft software. I am a fan, however, of Microsoft hardware. That said, I’ve always been a fan of the Notebook Mouse 3000. Sure it’s not Bluetooth, but it was a nice mouse until I got my Might Mouse.

Well, Microsoft was more than happy to announce yesterday (Beside that fact they claim to have the #1 Best Selling notebook mouse), they now have it five colors. The special edition Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 will be available in Pomegranate (red), Dragon fruit (dark pink), Aloe (green), Milk chocolate (brown) and Creme brulee (khaki). Beside this, it is relatively unchanged.

The new mouse will sell for a not bad $29.99 and will hit Best Buy in May, everywhere else in June.

The Bluelounge Gadget Sanctuary

Jake Bechtold | April 3, 2008

If you’re like me, your dresser become a mess at night, charing your phone, iPod, camera, and who knows what else. It’s a cable hell! But it can be eliminated thanks to the Bluelounge Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary is a beautiful, simple solution to a real everyday problem. A place to put the multitude of personal items we all carry around so they are easily located again when later needed and, always fully charged.

The simple and compact design conceals a universal charger compatible with over 1500 electronic devices from most major brands and a USB port allowing hundreds more electronic devices to be charged using just The Sanctuary. Users can from now on charge their cell phone, PDA, Blackberry, iPod, MP3 player, and bluetooth headset simultaneously in one location.

So basically what they done is made a box with a false bottom, and underneath the false bottom is a power strip with plugs that fit the most common gadgets. Just pull up what cables you need, and put the false bottom back on. Not only is it a great place for your gadgets, but your wallet and other item that you need each day.

The Sanctuary will set you back $129, but well spent as far as I’m concerned. I see some dresser organization in the future.

Gadget of the Week: 4-port USB Car Charger

Jake Bechtold | March 26, 2008

This, my friends, is the ultimate solution in powering your gadgets in your car. I hate trying to find car chargers for my gadgets: One for the iPod, the Phone, it goes on. Why buy car chargers when all you need is a USB cable and this contraption.

4-Port USB Car Charger lets you connect to or charge 4 USB devices, such as USB fan, USB lamp, USB Ionize, MP3 player, etc at the same time. And there is a DC port for you to charge your mobile phone conveniently, too.

Sweet, eh? The DC port can come in real handy for your phones (unless you have a newer Motorolla, which is USB). And for a $12 price tag, how can you go wrong? I say it’s the coolest thing since sliced bread (I know, that’s what I said last time- and I meant it then, too!)

NEW Apple AirPort Express with 802.11n

Jake Bechtold | March 18, 2008

Considering I just bought an AirPort Express about two months ago, I was very upset to see this. Apple has gone ahead an made an overhaul to the AirPort Express, giving it 802.11n wireless.

The AirPort Express, as you know, is a simplified and compact wireless base station. It allows up to 10 networked users, and includes called AirTunes, which allows you to wirelessly stream music. It includes a mini-jack for speakers, a USB port for remote printing, and a single Ethernet port.

Okay, you already knew what I just told you. I’ll have you know that the AirPort Express went almost 4 years without a redesign- thats right: June 2004. Which means (A.) I should have known better than to buy one and (B.) it’s now really stinkin’ fast.

The AirPort Express ships immediately and goes for $99.

AirQueue USB Extender

Jake Bechtold | March 8, 2008

Yes folks, a Saturday post. I stopped back in January due to other things going on, and I would like to get back in the swing of it.

Moving right along, I’m not sure what makes this gadget compatible with the MacBook Air (versus not compatible with something else), but we’ll go with it. I give you the AirQueue.

Enter AirQueue, a 20cm (7.75in) USB 2.0 extension cable custom designed to enable USB devices with large or unusually designed connectors to work with the MacBook Air. Furthermore, AirQueue is the only USB 2.0 extender cable certified to work with Synchrotech’s MicroU2E USB ExpressCard reader. The AirQueue and MicroU2E combination allows deployment of a whole range of USB 2.0 based ExpressCards with MacBook Air.

Again, why it’s geared towards that MBA, I’ll never know. I’m pretty sure it’ll work just like any ol’ 8-inch USB extension cable, but it’s good to know people are thinking of the MacBook Air users. The best part? Only $6. Not too shabby at all.

PS2 Keyboard and Desktop Organiser

Jake Bechtold | March 6, 2008

We all like to be organized. But if desktop space is at premium, this may not always be possible. If you fall in this area, this may be what you need- a Keyboard with Desktop organizer.

Exactly the same size as a standard keyboard, The Keyboard Organiser is a unique keyboard that opens like a clam shell to enable users to store their everyday desktop items such as pens, CD’s, markers, paper clips, stamps and more.

They keyboard is the thickness of a regular keyboard, and (since it’s PS2) will work with Windows 98/2000/XP. The downside? It only comes in white and is PS2 (sorry Mac fans). The Keyboard and Desktop organizer will set you back $50.

Logitech MX Revolution to go Bluetooth

Jake Bechtold | February 1, 2008

Gadget announcement time! The FCC has just given approval to Logitech for a new Bluetooth Mouse.

This time, Logitech will be unveiling the dubbed “M-RCL124″. This new mouse is more or less an exact replica of the infamous MX Revolution mouse in shape and buttonry, only with Bluetooth.

When I talked about this mouse over a year ago, that was the one thing I hated about it. There’s no word on availably or price, but I can almost guarantee you I will be getting one.
