Happy Birthday iMac

Jake Bechtold | August 15, 2008

I totally forgot that today is the birthday of the Apple iMac. The the computer that could has turned 10 years old today. The G3 iMac (get this!) sported a 15″ CRT monitor (resolution of 1024×768), 4 GB hard drive, 233 MHz PPC G3 (750), 32 MB of RAM (expandable up to 128), 56 Kbps modem, 24x tray-loading CD-ROM drive, Mac OS 8.1 (or 8.5 on later models). It was certainly hi-tech for the world then and it was the computer that saved Apple.

Above, I posted a commercial of the iMac G3 with the five flavors. That model of iMac was in production until 2003 when the iMac G4 came around, which gave way to the iMac G5 in 2004, which is a similar carnation of today’s iMac. Happy Birthday, iMac!
